For the 4th of July, our family was invited to watch the Marinette parade on the shady front lawn of a church family's house. We arrived early and chatted with several church members until the parade started.

The kids kept calling it "the Candy Parade". Jordan and Ben spent the whole time waving at every float, thinking that just because they were waving, they would get tons of candy thrown at them. It was funny to watch.

My favorite ladies in my life: Kristi & Kaylee

Around mid-afternoon, the church was having their
annual all-church cookout out at Wilcox's property. There was a good attendance, which meant we had yet another evening of getting to know the members of the church family.

The men cooking all of the meat.

While the kids played with other kids,
Kristi and I sat in the shade and chatted with people.

Jordan and his new friend, Nolan G.

Closer to dusk, the kids were treated to some "
kid fireworks", like smoke bombs, sparklers, and parachute rockets. Ben and Kaylee watched laying down, since they were exhausted from all of the activity from the day.

Pastor DeCleene brought his
miniature cannon and periodically shot it off for the kids.
The kids lined up to watch and hold their ears.

We are thankful for the special opportunity to attend the 4th of July cookout. After a whole week with the church people, we have come away with a better understanding about the ministry there in Marinette, and better equipped to pray for people by name.
Thank you Twin City Baptist Church for your hospitality and care for our family during this wonderful week of ministry in the Marinette area.
