San Ramón Update

For the last three Sunday afternoons, I have been driving "the ministry team" out to San Ramón. After the morning service, our family has just enough time to drive home and eat lunch before I head back to church to pick up the 4 or 5 members of the team that are scheduled to minister in San Ramón. Sometimes there is room for one more, so Jordan, Ben, and Kaylee rotate coming with me for an afternoon with daddy. Above: Sunday, May 30th with Kaylee in San Ramón

We leave Temuco around 2:20 pm and arrive in San Ramón just before 3 pm. Several members of the team open up the house and get it ready for the SS class, while the others start walking the streets to invite and accompany children back to the house for class time.

I usually walk the streets with the others (and Kaylee) to meet the parents and walk the kids back while chatting about their week. Above: Kaylee and Cati

Once all the kids and team members walk back to the house, we start the Sunday School class around 3:30 pm with prayer, some songs and their memory verse. Then the kids are split up into two groups for class.
I always help with the younger class. Mainly helping the kids focus on the teacher and keeping them quiet. They are often very distracted and disrupt the teacher every other minute with some story they want to tell. Each week is a different teacher from the team, but we have been teaching through the Old Testament using some chronological curriculum by New Tribes.

After the lesson, there is time for coloring or a craft that coincides with the point of the lesson.

Around 4:45 pm, there is a short closing time and then the kids are dismissed to walk home accompanied by several of the team members. While the kids are walking home, other team members stay at the house and clean up before locking up the house. We usually get back to Temuco around 5:30 pm, and I drop the team off at the church or their house if they live close. I drive back home and have 30 minutes before our family piles back into the van to head back for the evening service at church.

Sundays are rewarding despite being very, very long. This next Sunday, I will not be driving out to San Ramón, but will be preaching in the evening service.

Please continue to pray for our family as we participate in the ministries of our local church here in Temuco and in San Ramón.
