"Dieciocho" Teen Retreat (Part 3)

Read Part One & Two...

Spiritual Impact of Camping Ministry

The purpose of a camping ministry is to assist the local church in sharing the Gospel, discipling others, and providing settings for Christian fellowship. During the recent teen retreat there were evidences of all of those important dynamics.

Each day, the cabins split up and found a place around the camp to go through their devotions and spend some time in prayer.

These times are one of the most important activities of the daily schedule. It is during these times where the campers can hear and watch their counselor "flesh out" what the normal Christian life should be.

The campers gradually get more comfortable with their counselor and fellow campers and start to ask questions or open up about what is going on in their lives.

At camp, one can make new friends. The goal is to provide opportunities for those who may not know Christ as their personal Savior to hear, not only from the counselor, but from other Christian campers about what God has or is doing in their lives.

A time for singing before each preaching session provides yet another opportunity to worship our Lord and teach Biblical truths. Some campers might even learn a few new songs through their time at camp.

Camp provides an opportunity for counselors to grow in their walk of faith. Pamela (above), is a Bible Institute student in Temuco. She was able to put into practice what she has been learning in her BI classes. We would like to see more BI students be a part of the Lican Bible Camp as part of their overall training for the ministry.

The Lican Bible Camp also provides a wonderful backdrop for spiritual growth. Who wouldn't enjoy the view of the lake and surrounding Andes Mountains while listening to their counselor?

Please continue to pray for spiritual fruit in the lives of the campers, counselors, and staff. In a future post, we will list additional prayer requests for the camping ministry.

Come back again for the next post.
