Sand Castle Days

Several weeks ago, our family was able to get away on a Saturday morning to South Padre Island to attend Sand Castle Days. We thought it would be fun for the kids to see all of the sand creations and have some time at the beach.

Unfortunately, the day was cloudy and windy, but at least it was good weather for all the different kinds of kites that were flying.

There were different levels of contests for the sand castles, and they all were lined up on the beach for people to walk by and vote for the best one.

This was the entry that included all of the sponsors for the event.

Pretty amazing stuff these professionals could make out of sand.

This one was my personal favorite.

After looking at all the sand castles, we drove up the beach a few miles,
ate our picnic lunch, and let the kids play in the water and sand.

Come back for part two...

Wow! Those are pretty amazing! That would take a lot of talent... wonder why my sand castles never turned out like that? :) What fun.

I've always wanted to make a sandcastle like that. What a fun trip.

It's so neat that you were able to go see the sandcastles. I think we didn't know about the event until it was too late! Looks like so much fun. :)
