Looking Back at Last Week

It's the weekend, and things are starting to settle down after an emotional week. Looking back at last week we are thankful for God's grace, family, and fellow believers. Our list for thank you notes keeps on growing and we are overwhelmed with the outpouring of love, gifts, and actions during these tough days.

Here is a brief summary the past few days:

Monday night: Kristi started to take what the doctor gave her to start the delivery process. She had a good night sleep, with minimal discomfort.

Tuesday morning: The kids were dropped off at friend's houses here on campus around 9 am. They were looking forward to playing with their friends all day. Thank you Wilsons, Skeltons, Niemeyers, and Amanda for watching J, B, & K throughout the day. (Right: Amanda & Kaylee)

We anticipated going into the hospital around 9:30 am, but Kristi's contractions hadn't started yet. Several hours went by and we made several calls to the doctor. Finally, around 11:15 am, we drove to the hospital.

It took an hour to check in and register (good thing Kristi was still doing ok at this point). Around 12:30, we were in our L & D room. Vicki, our wonderful nurse, came in and set up the room and talked us through several things.

Matthew was delivered around 5:30 pm.

We spent the late afternoon and evening hours resting and talking in our room. The doctor gave the go-ahead to head home around 8:30, but only after Kristi received one last shot. Well...that "one last shot" came about 3.5 hours later, due to some issues at the hospital. Finally, we arrived home at 12:15 am, very tired.

Wednesday: We all slept in...including the kids. Kristi was feeling physically ok at that point, which was amazing to me. I only made it to one class, but made sure Kristi gave me the go ahead before I went. The rest of the day, we caught up on emails, made several phone calls to family members, and stayed close to home.

Thursday: Back to reality and classes. Several meals were provided by fellow classmates for Wed through Sat.

This weekend will be busy with a small birthday party for Ben (since his birthday was during this past week), catching up with homework, and other things around the apartment. Kristi is feeling quite well today (Friday afternoon) and is recovering. But as the dust is settling, the waves of emotion will come.

Thanks again to all who have been praying for our family (esp. Kristi).
We love you all.

Come back again soon for the next update.
