Spanish word(s) for the day - "Bebidas"

Carbonated beverages in Chile are generally referred to as "bebidas" (drinks).

Punch drinks made from powdered mixes (similar to Kool-Aid) are popular as well. Popular flavors are orange, apple, pineapple, strawberry, peach and apricot juices. Jugo is the Spanish word for juice.


Coca-Cola and orange pop are very popular as well.

Other popular drinks are those referred as néctar (juice with natural pulp and thicker in texture) peach and apricot being the most popular flavors.

Bottled water has increased in popularity in recent years. I have written about this in a previous post.

Fellow Minnesotan, Al Hsu, just wrote an interesting article on the "Pop" vs. "Soda" Controversy. I grew up saying "pop", but when I moved to college in NW WI is was called "soda". Check out the interesting map below to see where your location dictates what you call carbonated drinks.
